Educational Background and Work Experience

	Pamela Kinsey-Barker is presently enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is an EdD fellow in Educational Leadership.  She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a B.A. 
degree in Psychology and Sociology. She served on a committee to write a new Spanish 
curriculum for magnet electives in North Carolina and obtained her K-6 Teaching Certificate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
	 She has been an elemenatry teacher in Wake County magnet schools for the past ten 
years. Most recently Pam served as IRT, Instructional Resource Teacher, at a new 
year-round school and was responsible for providing leadership to classroom teachers 
in the implementation of curriculum and instructional techniques.  She served as liaison 
between administration, staff and central office and chaired several committees including 
Scheduling, Testing, and Media/ Technology at her school.  She was also responsible 
for coordinating and conducting staff development at her school that included workshops 
in interdisciplinary planning and curriculum mapping..   	
	Pamela recently joined 35 other teachers from North Carolina at Space Camp in Florida 
on a special grant sponsored by Glaxo Wellcome.  She has served as a Curriculum Facilitator 
for the A+ Schools training institutes as well as a Lead Teacher Trainer for the N.C. State Department in various counties conducting math workshops.  Pamela became 
a 4MAT Certified Instructor in 1994 and was selected to participate in Wake County's 
Future Leader's Program in 1992-93.  As part of this effort, she served on the planning committee for Durant Road Year Round Middle School which opened in June of 1993. 
 Pam was one of the finalists for Teacher of the Year in Wake County in 1993-94 and 
served on the Selection Committee in 1994-95.
