GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES

This course examines the social contexts of issues that affect education, focusing on where these issues are currently, their prospects, their implications for education, and recommendations for action.

The specific objectives of the course are to:

  • conduct an analysis of critical issues in education and the social context within which they are formed
  • use information resources (including the Internet) to inform the analyses
  • use a computer software presentation package to assist in orally communicating the analyses
  • use written and oral presentations to effectively communicate the analysis to educational leaders
